When you hit the road, you’re often left to choose between the fast-food emporiums on the Interstate or some random “looks like a nice place to eat” restaurant. But thanks to the wisdom of the hungry crowd , you can make an educated choice. So which sites do chowhounds use?
Well, there is my old favorite Chowhound. A food lovers forum.
There’s also Roadfood.com. I found them while I was at the library (you know, that place where people used to go for information) researching travel guides for the Tour. Of course, food resources are a top priority. Jane & Michael Stern’s Roadfood is a coast-to-coast guide to the best barbeque joints, lobster shacks, ice cream parlors, highway diners and hot dog havens. It’s the blue collar Zagats.

Gotta go, time for lunch.

I won’t be able to make it to the Boston event but I will be about an hour and a half north on Lake Winnipesaukee so feel free to drop by. We’re having a huge BBQ, Fireworks, plenty of beer, swimming, boating…plenty of fun!!!
Let me know what you like to eat and I can tell you. There are plenty of good restaurants. Only thing is that if you like hot (spicy) foods, you may want to bring your own sauce as hot here generally turns out to be mild.
Sorry…I forgot to mention that was for the Miami area.
Rob,
Doubtful we can get up to the lake with our tight schedule but it does sound tempting.
Robert,
We both love spicy food. Probably a lot to choose from in Miami. Inexpensive is best on our budget.
In SoBe, try David’s Cafe for a great Cuban Breakfast… a Cafe con Leche to start the day…
Check out Alton Brown on Foodnetwork.com … he did a show called Feasting on Asphalt…

He had some interesting road food.
In Atlanta - make sure to get to the Varsity Drive Up
Las Vegas - hit The Plaza on the end of the Old Strip… there is a $5.99 prime rib there that is actually great. It makes me hate eating prime rib anywhere else because I always feel like I’m spending too much.
about 1/2 a block away there’s $1.25 longnecks and $0.99 shrimp cocktail
MY HOUSE….SEE YOU GUYS IN BOSTON
Thanks for the tips David. Well raise one to you.
Here are some options for you in Orlando Florida area:

Let me know if you need more information — be happy to share with you some ideas!
